Merida, Yucatan, Mexico – The first logistics workshop is organized in Merida, Yucatan as part of the collaboration agreements between Texas A&M University, the Education Secretary of the State of Yucatan, and the Council of Science, Innovation and Technology of the State of Yucatan.

The TAMU delegation led by Dr. Jorge Leon, had the opportunity to visit and dialogue with approximately 18 companies, the Progreso Port management, and three industrial parks regarding the industrial development opportunities in Yucatan. They also held a meeting with Dr. Juan Carlos Barcala and with a team of the Economic Development Secretary, to discuss about the current strategic logistic projects in the State.

On Wednesday September 24, researchers from TAMU made a presentation to students from the Autonomous University of  Yucatan (UADY) and as a result, several students showed interest in participating in the 2015 CANIETI program for a 10-week summer research internship at TAMU focused on industrial distribution.

This 3-day visit allowed both counterparts to have a broader view of the industrial reality, challenges, and opportunities in logistics in the State of Yucatan, for which the TAMU team is enthusiastic in collaborating.
