Merida, Yucatan, Mexico – The objective of this visit was to define the roles of the institutions involved in the logistics project of the Yucatan Initiative, the project´s limits, and the possible participant researchers and strategic partners, a series of consecutive meetings are arranged in Merida in which participate researchers from TAMU and SIIDETEY, enterprises, institutions, and goverment agencies.
Results of the visit:
As a result of this meeting derives the definition of roles for the participating institutions in the general logistics project considering that it is a project that will lodge three additional projects aligned to the general objective, and with the possibility of adding new projects. There was a direct rapprochement with the possible researchers and faculty of the Chemical Engineering Faculty from the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY) that will integrate and lead the project in Yucatán.
Main agreements:
- The Department of Economic Development of the State of Yucatan (SEFOE) will redefine the general objective of the logistics project, and work jointly with Dr. Lawrence from TAMU to redefine the specific projects of the Logistics Consortium.
- The Chemical Engineering Faculty of UADY will participate in academics and research through three specific projects whose objectives will add up to the general project, which will be defined jointly with Dr. Lawrence.
- The Talent Incubator project will remain under the Department of Education of the Yucatan State Goverment until it can be linked to an institution. Dr. Rodriguez will be the point of contact at Texas A&M University.
