Merida, Yucatan, Mexico – Texas A&M University delegates including Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina, Associate Professor of the Civil Engineering Department, Mrs. Maria Alves, Director for Engineering International Programs, and Dr. Jorge Leon, Professor of the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, meet with Mr. Eric Rubio Barthell, Secretary of the Yucatan Governor´s Office, to discuss collaboration issues regarding academic exchange programs and projects of common interest in education, coastal zones, information technologies, logistics, energy, water, and food and agriculture.
The academic mobility plan will allow State university students to study in the different departments of engineering at Texas A&M University. One of the first results derived from this collaboration is the participation of two students from the Universidad Anáhuac Mayab in a summer internship at TAMU.
During this meeting, the delegations also analyzed the possibility to establish a Texas A&M head office in the Scientific and Technological Park of Yucatan where students and researchers would have the opportunity to contribute with solutions to solve regional problems for both countries.
