Merida, Yucatan, Mexico – Faculty from Texas A&M University and SIIDETEY meet with the objective of carrying out a series of working tables on the different research areas of collaboration.
Dr. Raul Godoy Montañez gave an introduction to the System of Research, Innovation, and Technological Development of the State of Yucatan (SIIDETEY) and the policies in science, technology, and innovation of the State of Yucatan, followed by Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina’s presentation of the College of Engineering.
Researchers were assigned to moderate simultaneous working tables based on their specific area of expertise including Dr. Roger Gonzalez Herrera in aquifers, Dr. Alberto Muñoz Ubando in early warning systems, Dr. Eduardo Batllori Sampedro in coast dynamics, Mr. Ricardo Bello Bolio moderated the table of higher and graduate education, and Mr. Juan Carlos Garcia Barcala led the energy working table.
By the end of the working sessions, the academics elaborated and presented work proposals and possible funding sources. To culminate the visit to Merida, the team of researchers from TAMU had an interview with the Gobernor of the State of Yucatan, Rolando Zapata Bello.
